Madame Grès Haute Couture Pleated White Gown Personal Archive, c. 1950s

Sale price$30,000.00

Condition: FAIR

Madame Grès pleated white haute couture gown, circa 1950s — a true museum-worthy piece from the personal archive of Alix Grès, and an exceptionally rare numbered défilé prototype.

Often called the “sculptor of fashion,” Madame Grès built her legend on draping and pleating that feels closer to architecture than dressmaking. Her signatures were discipline and lightness at once: countless micro-pleats set by hand, shaped to the body with the precision of a statue, creating movement that reads like “living marble.” This gown is an extraordinary example of that mastery — a study in proportion, restraint, and pure technique, where the fabric becomes form.
